Who is Skelaxin for?
Skelaxin, is a muscle relaxant, used in combination with rest, physical therapy, and some other measures to achieve muscle relaxation and relieve the pain and discomfort frequently caused by strains, sprains, and other muscle injuries. When should I be careful taking it?
Before taking Skelaxin:

Tell your doctor and pharmacist in case you are allergic to Skelaxin or some other drug.
Tell your doctor and pharmacist what medications you are taking (prescription and non prescription), especially medications for seizures, allergies, colds, or coughs; pain medications; sedatives; tranquilizers; and vitamins.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had or actually suffer from kidney disease, liver disease, seizures, or any kind of blood disorder.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If in the event that you become pregnant while taking Skelaxin, you must call your doctor immediately.

You have to know that this drug may provoke drowsiness. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how Skelaxin affects you. Remember that alcohol can be a factor to add to the drowsiness caused by this drug.

What side effects should I watch for?
Side effects from Skelaxin are very infrequent, but they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

- drowsiness
- dizziness
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- headache
- nervousness

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

- severe skin rash
- difficulty breathing
- yellowing of the skin or eyes
- unusual bruising or bleeding
- unusual tiredness or weakness
- seizures

How should I take it?
Skelaxin is supplied as a tablet to take by mouth. The usual dosis is three or four times a day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take this medication exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

What happens if I miss a dose?
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is near the time for your next dose, it is better to skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Where should I keep it?
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature, away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Ask your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
